What positive Habit-Stamps do you have?

October 4th, 2009

When Reese Witherspoon won her Oscar for Best Actress for Walk The Line, her speech was kind, humble, and heartwarming. She thanked her parents for always praising her and offering positive reinforcement for anything she did as a child, even simple things like making her bed. She explained how their parenting gave her confidence to succeed, the foundation of a Belief that she could be great at whatever she did. This is a beautiful example of positive Habit-Stamping. She developed extraordinary yet simple Peak Life Habits like the “I Can Do It Habit.” pg 41

Envisioning Positively Inspiring Success

September 27th, 2009

Remember, the brain is mechanical. When you articulate what gives you passion (perhaps starting with the things that simply give you pleasure) and then get in Action toward those things, you draw the positive Outcomes of that passion into your life. Those Outcomes can be anything – more time outdoors, more great moments with a partner, new travel experiences, more great success and respect in your field, fun with the kids, a new degree, a fitness program, etc. You put vivid pictures into your brain of that Outcome. You then choose new Beliefs, Habits and Actions that will take you right to the open doorway of that success, allow you to walk through it and live in the light of who you’ve become. pg. 94

A Pattern Interrupt is straighforward and profound…

September 25th, 2009

It is a method to dig down to the core of your Habit mechanism, where your Beliefs reside, and make a shift. Even if you keep Beliefs (and they can be awfully hard to change sometimes), it is within your power to rewrite the script of any Belief and replace almost any Belief-Link by actualizing a Pattern Interrupt. You have the bolt-cutters for your Habit-Chains and the power to link yourself to different Actions. pg. 65

Watch Your Language Habits…

September 24th, 2009

Language Habits perpetuate the style and types of phrases we use while supporting and reinforcing our Beliefs and Habits. Language Habits are both external and internal, both negative and positive. The phrases we use may have come from our parents, teachers, friends, books or movies. Without realizing it, we adopted a Cluster of Language Habits that has nothing to do with success, happiness or fulfillment. Often what we think and speak is likely to become our reality. pg 277

Holding yourself accountable…

September 23rd, 2009

Your accountability is to be proactive, play big with this and reinforce the new Belief continuously. At every opportunity, in every scene or sequence in your life, play with visualizing your new intention, your new Belief, your new Outcome. Remember to keep these thoughts big and make your positive intention so huge that every time your Limiting Habit hooks you, you can dwarf it with your new Belief. Make sure you identify the Actions that are consistent with your big, new, invented Belief and bring about the Outcomes the new Belief supports. Practice this with discipline and persistence. pg 72

Not a temporary solution… a life changing shift.

September 21st, 2009

You are not just putting band-aids on your life – you are going in deep to profoundly Shift the way you are in the world. You are debunking the myths inside your head, the “absolute truths” that are your old Habit-Stamped Beliefs, and you are giving them a reality check so that over time subtle changes start to manifest themselves. We never know where or how Shift will happen, at lest not exactly, yet the Shift is predictable. You can put faith in the fact that once you pull your habits into your conscious mind, focus on what you want in your life, and then put your attention on Pattern Interrupts, your unconscious mind will come along for the ride. pg 93

The cycles of life we live…

September 16th, 2009

You are hardwired to act on your Beliefs as if they are absolute truths about life. You take Actions and create Habits that reinforce them. These Habits perpetuate what you believe, and the Outcomes in your life reinforce those Beliefs, and around and around it goes.  pg. 42-43

There are positive ways to deal with success…

September 15th, 2009

The first obstacle that confronts you when you come face-to-face with a chance at ongoing success may be a feeling of unworthiness in the moment of greatness. BOOM—a “Covert Unconscious Habit” such as the “I’m Not Good Enough Habit” kicks into high gear to undermine your success pattern and, in so doing, reinforces a root Belief that you don’t deserve awesome success.  pg 56

Your belief and your decision to act on it are separate. You create a belief-link by your own choice!

September 10th, 2009

And therein lays freedom. Once you are able to recognize these connections, you will learn how to rewire them to generate the Habits and Outcomes that serve you better. The emphasis is practical, not theoretical. Beliefs often exist below our conscious awareness. Nonetheless, they guide all our Actions, with Beliefs and Belief-Links becoming Outcome predictors. No exceptions. In the coming chapters, you will learn how to get your pliers into that Belief-Link, pry it wide open, and pick and choose the links that will anchor you to a brilliant, powerful selfhood that won’t fail you when your cell phone rings, when you go to your mother-in-law’s for dinner, or when life tosses you one of its little adventures. pg. 16 – 17

Our Beliefs cause us to take Actions that do not result in the Outcome we want. Take a look for yourself. Is there an Action in your life that often backfires? pg. 15
